How to rotate a PDF by a few degrees

Straighten crooked scans and slightly tilted PDF pages with precise custom rotation — not just the usual 90°, 180° or 270° turns.

1. Why rotate a PDF by a few degrees?

Sometimes a PDF page is not upside down or sideways — it is simply a little crooked. In that case, rotating it by 90 degrees is useless.

The custom rotation feature in 123 PDF Editor PRO lets you rotate selected pages by a precise angle such as 2°, 5°, 10° or 15°.

  • Straighten slightly crooked scanned pages.
  • Correct PDFs created from photos taken at a slight angle.
  • Align forms, receipts, notes and archived documents.
  • Apply the same correction to several selected pages at once.

Page Organizer in 123 PDF Editor PRO
Page Organizer lets you select one or multiple pages before applying the rotation.

From this screen you can also reorder, delete, duplicate, extract and organise pages, so it is a convenient place to fix the whole PDF before exporting it.

4. Select the page or pages to straighten

Select the page that needs correction, or select several pages if they all have the same tilt.

This is useful for scanned documents where a batch of pages was captured at the same slight angle.

💡
For the best result, first identify whether the page needs to move clockwise or counter-clockwise. Small values such as 1°–5° are usually enough for ordinary scanning misalignment.

5. Apply a custom rotation angle

Instead of being limited to quarter-turn rotations, you can enter a precise angle for the selected pages.

Enter the custom rotation value and apply it to the selected page or pages.

For example, you might use:

  • 1°–2° for a very small alignment correction.
  • for a visibly crooked scan.
  • 10°–15° for a more noticeably tilted page.

The content is rotated inside the page so you can correct the angle without changing the whole document to portrait or landscape orientation.

👁 6. Check the result before finishing

After applying the rotation, check the updated page preview and make sure text lines, borders and images now look straight.

Use the updated preview to verify that the page has been straightened correctly.

If the page is still slightly tilted, simply adjust the angle again until the content is properly aligned.

This makes custom rotation especially useful for scanned PDFs, where the ideal correction may be only a few degrees.

7. Undo or reset the rotation

You can experiment with different angles without having to reload the original document.

  • Use Undo to reverse the latest change.
  • Use Reset Rotation to return the selected pages to their original rotation.

This is useful when you are trying several values to find the most accurate correction.

8. Download the corrected PDF

Once the pages are straight, apply the changes and save the corrected document.

  1. Review the rotated pages in Page Organizer.
  2. Confirm the modifications.
  3. Return to the main editor if you need to make any other changes.
  4. Click Download PDF.

You can continue editing before downloading: add text, images, signatures, annotations, page numbers, headers, footers and other elements if needed.

Custom rotation vs. standard 90-degree rotation

The two tools solve different problems.

90°, 180° or 270° rotation

Use standard rotation when the entire page is facing the wrong direction, for example when a portrait page appears sideways.

Rotation by a few degrees

Use custom rotation when the page orientation is basically correct but the content is slightly tilted because of scanning, photographing or alignment errors.
